Institutional Investors See Opportunity in Bitcoin Price Decline

Despite the sharp decline in Bitcoin's price, institutional investors and governments continue to show interest in acquiring more of the cryptocurrency. According to Coinbase's Institutional strategy head, John D'Agostino, large investors are not responding to the downturn with widespread selling, but rather see it as an opportunity to buy at a discount.

D'Agostino pointed out that family offices and sovereign funds are buying Bitcoin at lower prices instead of reducing their exposure. He also stated that major institutional holders do not appear dangerously leveraged or close to forced liquidation, and that larger companies can often raise new capital to support their positions.

The comments from D'Agostino come as Bitcoin's price has fallen by over 50% since its peak in October 2025. However, despite the decline, institutional demand for Bitcoin remains strong, with Coinbase's strategy adding 1,550 Bitcoin to its holdings between June 1 and June 7.
